WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging mobile applications in the world. The application comes with many options and features, but today we’re going to talk about the WhatsApp Voice Calling and how you can lower the data usage on your iPhone while using this awesome feature.
As most of you already know, the WhatsApp Voice Calling feature is using a lot of data. The developers of WhatsApp have reduced the data consumption, but you will need to change some settings inside the WhatsApp application in order to make it work. This is the reason why today we’re going to tell you about the steps that you will need to take in order to lower the data consumption while using the WhatsApp Voice Calling feature on your iPhone device.
First of all, you will need to open the WhatsApp application on your iPhone. Once the application is launched, go to the Settings tab that’s found inside the application and select “Data Usage”. Once you open this tab, you will see an option called “Low Data Usage” that’s found under the “Call Settings”. Enable the “Low Data Usage” by flipping the toggle switch to the ON position.
Once this option is enabled, you will see the WhatsApp Voice Calling feature will use less mobile data. Keep in mind that this option will be enabled for both mobile data and Wi-Fi connection.
However, if you have an unlimited mobile data plan and the battery of your mobile device is good enough, we suggest you to turn this option off, because the quality of the audio will be lowered while the “Low Data Usage” is turned on.
We remind you that there are rumors which say that WhatsApp is planning to bring the Video Calling feature to its application. However, this was not confirmed yet by anyone from WhatsApp, so we should take this news with a bit of salt. Also, don’t forget that the annual fee of $0.99 has been removed, so the application is totally free now.
