The developers of WhatsApp are releasing new updates for the Android version more often than they do for the rest of the platforms. And Nokia Asha and Symbian 40 are the less updated versions, receiving the new features from Android much later or never. So, don’t expect any changes on the WhatsApp 2.13.36 update, as it brings only bug fixes and performance improvements.
WhatsApp 2.13.36 is 6Kb smaller than the previous update and the installation file.jar contains 1367 modified files. 25 files have been added, while 75 files have been removed, and there’s a “hidden.res” file that keeps appearing in many directories, while “565-anim-active-connections.png” and “565-scan-illustration.png” are related to WhatsApp web, which means that this function might arrive to Nokia Asha devices.
The list of supported Nokia devices on which you can install WhatsApp are: Nokia S40 – Nokia 206 Single SIM and Dual SIM, Nokia 208 (Preinstalled WhatsApp), Nokia 301 Single SIM Chat Edition and Dual SIM Chat Edition, Nokia 515 (Preinstalled WhatsApp), Nokia Asha 201, Nokia Asha 205 Chat Edition, Nokia Asha 210, Nokia Asha 230 Single SIM and Dual SIM, Nokia Asha 300, 302, 303, 305, 306, 308, 309, 310, 311, 500, 501, 502, 503, C3-00, C3-01, X2-00, X2-01, X3-02 and X3-02.5.
With the latest software for Nokia Asha 501, the users will have WhatsApp preinstalled, so all they need to do is update this application by going to Settings > Phone Update and install the latest update. We recommend users to connect to a wireless network in order to not consume any mobile data.
The owners of the rest of Nokia devices will need to download the .jar or .jad file from the internet and install it on their phones.
WhatsApp is a free application with plenty useful features, but from the Nokia version is missing the Voice Calling feature. However, the users can send texts, images, videos, create group chats, block contacts etc.
