iPhone 7 is still months away from a possible release but there are renders already doing rounds regarding the looks and design of the upcoming iPhone flagship.

This phone is not expected until September this year, but reports coming from China, albeit through Korea, have brought to us a new image of what would appear to be the next Apple smartphone flagship.

Major design changes for iPhone 7

A look at the revealed render shows that Apple will be changing the materials used to design the phone as well as adding new features. Usually, Apple never lets go of any details regarding its upcoming devices or developments. Given this condition, you will want to take this information with a pinch. Nonetheless, considering that Apple usually comes in with major design changes after two years, it is possible that the leaked renders might just be what Apple is working on.

In 2014, Cupertino unveiled iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Touted as one of the best designs of the year, the iPhone 6-like design was retained in last year’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. This is the year that Apple should be coming in with wholesale changes to the design of the iPhone.

Among the major changes shown on the render is a Super AMOLED display screen. This can be somehow untrue given that Apple is expected to move to this type of panels in 2018. The company reportedly secured a deal with South Korean firms Samsung and LG as far as manufacturing of these AMOLED panels is concerned. To even throw the matter into further doubt, renowned security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo went public with the information that Apple’s iPhones will only start using AMOLED panels in 2019.

Apple will reportedly also change the rear of the phone, this time coming in with a ceramic back. The visible antenna lines will also be no more, a revelation that is in agreement with a separate report that recently suggested the upcoming iPhone will eliminate the antenna lines.

Rumors have been doing rounds claiming that Apple will be ditching the 3.5 mm headphone jack port. The leaked render shows this might be true. Also expect a much better and speedy Touch ID as well as the use of a new metal frame.

iPhone 7 will stick with the 12MP rear snapper seen on the current flagship. The device will also come with quick charging technology to ensure that you don’t have to wait for hours before the battery is fully juiced.

Finally, Apple will for the first time roll out an iPhone 7 that comes with waterproof capabilities. This has never happened before and it is a feature only familiar with Android users. Samsung dropped it in Galaxy S6 series, but rumors are that it will bring it back with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7.
