“Error 53” represents a huge bug that iPhone fans have come across over the past couple of months. With the latter bug, those who own an iPhone 6 and 6s have discovered that their devices are unusable after an iOS upgrade. And to add more salt to the injury, there is no further explanation on Apple’s support site. It seems that the only way one can fix this error, is by sending the device back to Apple and get another substitute handset.

The iOS update is followed by “Error 53” killer-bug

Many users have noticed that after the iOS update, their iPhone becomes ineffective and “error 53” pops-up on the screen. According to a report issued by the Guardian, Apple has pinpointed to unauthorized third-party fixes, as such procedures can mess up the association between the Touch ID fingerprint reader of the handset and the “secure enclave” that caches the fingerprint info. It appears that without this association, the important data can be stolen because unauthorized technicians may set-up a malevolent Touch ID sensor. In this case, Apple recommends shutting down the gizmo, when the association is unsuccessful.



Here is what the company’s spokesman advises: “When an iPhone is serviced by an unauthorized repair provider, faulty screens or other invalid components that affect the Touch ID sensor could cause the check to fail if the pairing cannot be validated,” he continues saying “With a subsequent update or restore, additional security checks result in an ‘error 53’ being displayed.”

Apple failed to give a convincing explanation and some think that this bug is definitely a well-thought strategy, so that the company gains exclusive rights on the repairs of the iPhones. Even if in general, the newest iPhones are not hard to fix on your own, this Touch ID bug is definitely not your everyday DIY repair plan.
