The new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are looming and even though Apple never lets the details of its upcoming products leave Cupertino’s walls, somehow, word always comes out regarding these products.
If you are planning to dish out your money on the next-gen iPhone, you’d better know what you are up for. Whenever Apple rolls out a new smartphone, it brings new features and capabilities to the table. This, at times, makes it very hard for enthusiasts when it comes to making decisions regarding buying these gadgets. Do you buy this coming version or wait for an even better iPhone 8?
Well, for those who love being informed of what they are really getting into, here is a highlight of what we know about the next Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
There is word that Apple will be getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack and in place of it force the users to use the lightning port to connect their EarPods. Alternatively, Apple may go for a wireless headphone just so as to ensure that the device comes in the slimmest profile possible. Another surprise will be the inclusion of water resistance on the coming iPhone, a feature that is mostly associated with the Android devices.
Reports coming from Mac Rumors claim that the coming iPhone 7 will be released alongside the usual suspect, iPhone 7 Plus. The former will feature a screen size of 4.7 inches, but Forbes reports that there might be a third phone, something that leaves us questioning what the screen size of this device would be, leave alone the name. Forbes is defiant that Apple will come in with a third variant differentiated by the new dual-lens camera technology that was acquired last year – LinX.
However, it is possible that this technology might be used to differentiate the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This is true, because looking back, the iPhone 6/6 Plus and iPhone 6S/6S Plus have only size of the screen as the major differentiator. With the new dual-lens camera technology featuring on the new iPhone 7 Plus, Apple will have a better chance of improving the sales of the phablet against major competitors in the Android niche.
Further still, the iPhone 7 is rumored to come with a lower RAM of 2GB as compared to the 3GB the iPhone 7 Plus will possess. As mentioned earlier, the dual-lens camera expected on the phablet will better the performance of this device’s snapper in low lighting conditions, with the result being much better photos as compared to the smaller iPhone. If this happens, our view is that Apple will be trying to make the phablet iPhone 7 Plus the flagship model.
We also have word that Apple is planning to release a smaller iPhone 5SE to take the place of iPhone 5S. While this phone will come in compact form (4 inches), reports claim that it will carry the same capabilities as 2014’s iPhone 6.
