Motorola and LG are two of the companies that have released some pretty good handsets in 2015. Today we’re going to talk about the Moto X Play and LG G4, two phablets that you will surely want to get your hands on if you like big-sized smartphones.


The Moto X Play measures 148x75x10.9mm and weights 169 grams. It has a plastic back similar to that of the Moto X 2014, but the entire surface has diagonal lines and in the top center was placed a vertical strip that contains the camera and logo. The LG G4 is thinner as it measures 148.9×76.1×9.8 mm and weights 155 grams, but it features a metal body and the physical buttons sit below the read camera.


The Moto X Play has an IPS LCD display of 5.5-inch that supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 403 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The LG G4 has also an IPS LCD display of 5.5-inch that supports a higher resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 538 ppi and it’s protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The Moto X Play sports a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset with an octa-core processor formed from a quad-ore Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.0GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, an Adreno 405 graphics card and 2GB of RAM. The LG G4 houses a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset which is powered by a hexa-core processor formed from a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.44GHz and a dual-core Cortex A57 processor clocked at 1.82GHz, an Adreno 418 graphics card and 3GB of RAM.


The Moto X Play was released in three internal storage variants of 16GB and 32GB, while the LG G4 comes with an internal storage variant of 32GB. Both devices support microSD cards with capacities up to 128GB.


The Moto X Play sports a primary camera of 21MP (found on the rear side of the handset) that features autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and a secondary camera of 5MP (found on the front side of the handset). The LG G4 has a primary camera of only 16MP which supports OIS, LED flash, smile detection, panorama, HDR and the secondary camera is 8MP.


The Moto X Play is powered by a non-removable battery of 3630 mAh. On the other hand, the LG G4 has a weaker battery of only 3000 mAh which can be replaced.
