While companies such as Motorola, HTC or LG were very punctual and started delivering the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to their flagships at the end of 2015, Samsung only promised its users that the firmware will be rolled out soon. How soon, it remains to be seen, because the company hasn’t conformed the date when its top devices will receive it. However, according to a leaked document, this will happen in a few days, but we advise you to be skeptical about this information, as at the end of October appeared another document with an update schedule, which said that the first smartphones will be released in December, but the update never arrived.
In the document that was released on October 29, it was mentioned that the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ have been approved to receive the update in December. Then, in January were scheduled to receive the update the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but the month is almost over and since none of the devices have been upgraded yet, it means that the leaked document was fake.
That’s why we recommend you to not take for granted any leaks that surface on the internet, even if the information seems to be coming from the source. And the new leaked image with the update schedule looks identical to the one that circulated a few months ago, only the dates are different.
So, according to XTECH LEAKS, who sent the image to MobiPicker, here’s the list of Samsung devices that are scheduled to be upgraded to 6.0 Marshmallow. In February, the Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N90G) and Galaxy S6 Edge+ (SM-G928G) will be the first Samsung devices to receive the latest firmware. Then, between February and March, the update will be rolled out to the Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925I) and Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I), while from March to April, three more smartphones will get the firmware: Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910G), Galaxy S5 (SM-N900G) and Galaxy Note Edge (SM-N915G).
Meanwhile and this is legit information, Samsung has been beta testing the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but the update has been accidentally sent to some Galaxy S5 owners.
The 6.0 Marshmallow update will be sent to other Samsung devices: Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, Galaxy Tab S2 8, Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and Galaxy Tab A 8 tablets, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A3, A5, Galaxy E5 and E7, Galaxy J2, J5 and J7.
