Microsoft is determined to bring Skype to every person’s attention, ranging from typical consumers, business entities and now to the sporting world.

With Bing apparently doing fine with American football thanks to offerings such as Bing Predicts where fans can pick NFL games and predict playoff games, the Windows OS maker has made another lucrative move in the UK sporting arena, announcing a major partnership with one of the leading football teams in the country – Liverpool FC.

The deal follows a flurry of theannouncement that the company has been making in the recent days, updates that are aimed at aligning the app in readiness for the tougher 2016 ahead, especially with the likes of WhatsApp rumored to be working on a new video calling feature.

Skype Translator has recently unveiled to users of Windows devices and Outlook for iOS and Android users received the ability to schedule Skype Meetings right from within the app. Also, there is news that Microsoft has bought Event Zero, an Australian startup that boasts technology aimed at helping the services offered on Skype for Business.



To make things even sweeter, the company also revealed that it will be rolling out free group video calling to all mobile apps, be it on Windows, iOS or Android powered devices.

The next thing you will see is a new set of Liverpool FC-inspired Skype emoticons where the club’s top stars namely Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson, including the coach Jurgen Klopp are on board.

Microsoft will be debuting the partnership in style, revealing that it will be giving away a massive number of Barclay’s Premier League (BPL) tickets to the game that is set to take place at Anfield against Liverpool FC’s archrivals Manchester United.

To enter, send your match day ritual to the official Skype account of the club with the help of these three steps:

  • Launch Skype on your device. If new to the, download it for free from any trusted site, preferably the Play Store or iTunes App Store if using Android or iOS device respectively.
  • Go on and add LFCofficial as a new contact to your list of Skype contacts.
  • Start a new conversation on the app with LFCofficial and provide your match day ritual.
