Google released Nexus 5X towards the end of last year, alongside the Huawei-made Nexus 6P.

While the latter model has been receiving lots of positive reviews, the former model, which was engineered by LG, has had a share of its problems, especially when it comes to sales.

With this in mind, Google has announced a price cut on the Nexus 5X 16GB smartphone, bringing down the price in the U.S. by $30.

The search engine giant revealed this information via a tweet. The good thing is that this shift in pricing will not just affect those who want to buy the lower end model, but also the 32GB version. What this means is that for anyone who wants to buy the LG-inspired smartphone from the official Google Store, they will have to part with $349 for the 16GB version and $399 for the 32GB version.

The 16GB Nexus 5X smartphone has previously been on the market for a price of $379 while its counterpart, the 32GB version has been around for a price of $429.

There is no word on whether this is a move targeting to up the sales of this device for a limited period of time; however, latest reports emerging from Phone Arena suggest that this move might be a permanent one from Google. Unless this is another baseless rumor, we might start seeing major retailers in the country, such as Best Buy and Amazon also cut their prices to match those available on the official Google Store.

No price changes for the Nexus 6P

As mentioned earlier, the Huawei-made Nexus 6P has received lots of positive reviews, with some reviewers even pitting it against the premium iPhone 6S Plus. However, despite lowering the price of its counterpart, the search engine giant has spoken no word about the possible reduction of the price of the Nexus 6P. At the moment, this device is priced at $499 for the base model.

Huawei has recently been hitting headlines, especially with its line of smartphones that come with high end specs, but are available for mid and low-end prices. It has started making its mark in the U.S. with the partnership with Google and it seems the latter wants something in return – to take advantage of this partnership in a bid to return to China. Google’s services are currently not available in the Asian country.

For Nexus 5X enthusiasts, you will enjoy a 5.2-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 808 CPU and a RAM of 2GB. The snappers are fixed with 12.3MP and 5MP lenses on the rear and front respectively, with the addition of a fingerprint scanner being another major highlight of this phone. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and is powered by an able 2,700mAh battery unit.
