BlackBerry, the Canadian manufacturer known for its line of smartphones that run on the proprietary operating system called BlackBerry 10, decided that it’s time to create an Android device, because this platform is a lot more popular and developers prefer to create applications for it, or iOS, or Windows Phone (now 10 Mobile). Anyway, last year, the BlackBerry Priv running on Android v5.1.1 (Lollipop), which has a 5.4-inch screen with QHD resolution, it’s powered by a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and has a battery with a capacity of 3410 mAh, which, theoretically, it should provide 24 hours of talk time. But the owners want to increase its life and luckily, there are some things that they can do to achieve that.
Enable The Battery Saver
Users panic when they’re expecting an important phone call, but the battery is running out of juice and it might die in any second. In order to extend a little bit the battery life, the Priv users can enable the Battery Saver feature, which, according to BlackBerry’s representative’s, it “reduces your device’s performance and limits features such as vibration, location services, and most background data” and “As a result, your email, and other apps that rely on syncing may not update unless they are opened when Battery saver mode is enabled.” The feature can be enabled by going to Settings > Battery, then tapping on the three dots from the top right corner, which will lead them to the Battery Saver option. The feature can be set to be turned on when the battery will go down to 15 percent or percent.
Disable Live Wallpaper
Live wallpapers are dynamic, cool, but they’re draining the battery very fast. That’s why BlackBerry recommends the users to not use them if they want to extend the battery life of their smartphone.
Lower the Screen Brightness And Turn Off Keyboard Sounds And Vibration
The screen brightness can be lowered by going to Settings > Display. Also, after a while, the device goes into sleep mode, but the users can choose the time it sleeps by setting the screen timeout, by going to the same Settings > Display. Regarding the vibration and sound made by the phone when the user types, they can be turned off by going to Settings > Language & input > Keyboard Settings.
Turn Off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi And GPS
These services should be turned off after they’re no longer needed, because they’re consuming a lot of battery when they’re not in use. Location services can be disabled by going to Settings > Location.
