Android 6.0 Marshmallow came firstly for Google’s Nexus 5X and 6P flagships, which were released in October, then the older Nexus have received it and then Google’s partners have waited in line for the public Android Marshmallow release. Samsung is one of the manufacturers that have collaborated with Google in the past and since it’s one of the biggest names in the mobile phone industry, its flagships will be upgraded gradually, after the company has confirmed the list of Galaxy devices that will run on Android Marshmallow. The problem is that these updates are rolled out in phases and will reach some devices later. At the same time, while newer Samsung phone are preparing to be upgraded to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, on others can be installed Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Galaxy Note 4 Runs On Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, Then It Will Be Upgraded to 6.0 Marshmallow
The owners of this phablet sold by Verzion have started getting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update a few days ago, but other carriers are behind with this update and it will take some time until all Note 4 devices will be bumped to Android 5.1.1. However, according to some leaks, both the Note 4 and Note Edge will receive Marshmallow updates in the US. T-Mobile has made the first step and confirmed that both devices will be updated in the near future and Napidroid has also claimed that it already received a Marshmallow build on one of its Note 4 devices. Marshmallow will bring the new Air Command menu, the option to take notes on the screen, even if it’s off and some applications will have new icons.
Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge To Run on 6.0.1 Marshmallow
It’ not a secret that Samsung’s latest flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be the first devices to run on Marshmallow. Unfortunately, for now, this update isn’t available, but the unlocked models in the UK and South Korea are taking part in an Android Marshmallow beta program, where the users can test out the software and see if there are any bugs, which they can report to the developers, in order to fix them before the update will go public. But, this is the Android 6.0.1 update, which brings the following new features:
– new emoji characters
– Install overnight, a new option which will allow updates to be installed only at night, between 2 to 5 AM
– when the fingerprint isn’t recognized, the device vibrates
– notification panel icons have an improved visibility
– quick settings toggles for Private Mode in the status bar.
The US carrier T-Mobile has confirmed that it will bring a trio of Galaxy S6 Marshmallow updates for the S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+, but these updates are still in the “Manufacturer Development” stage.
