The owners of the HTC One M9 and One M8 flagships are ecstatic because their phones will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the OTA (over-the-air) update will arrive soon. This news was confirmed by Mo Versi, product management chief at HTC, who wrote on Twitter that the latest Android firmware will roll out on January 18, to four variants of the One M9 in South America: Sasktel, Rogers, Wind and Videotron, while the T-Mobile variant of HTC One M8 will get the update on January 25. The HTC One M8 in Hong Kong is also programmed to be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow next week. Regarding the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, the phone gets only a Lollipop upgrade.

It’s not known when the AT&T and Verizon variants of HTC’s aforementioned devices will receive the latest firmware, while the rumors say that the update was pushed to the One M8 in the US and Asia, not too long ago. Other HTC smartphones found on the list to get the software are the One A9, M9+, E9+, E9, ME, E8, M8 Eye, Butterfly 3, Desire 826, Desire 820 and Desire 816.

Recently, the Sony Xperia C4 received an unexpected update and the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra thought that they will be luckier and get the Marshmallow firmware, but instead, they received only a new Lollipop upgrade. This happened after in October, Sony has said that the device which came loaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop will run on Android Marshmallow. Even the Sony Xperia C4 was included to that list, but apparently, on January 16, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update started rolling out to most of its models.

And now, many Xperia C5 Ultra models (single SIM model numbers E5553 and E5506 + dual SIM E5533 and E5563) will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop, but the devices that haven’t received notification of the upgrade yet will be updated soon, because the upgrade is pushed out in phases.

The single SIM version of the Xperia C5 Ultra will get the build number 29.1.A.0.87, while the Dual version will receive the build number 29.1.B.0.87.
