While the owners of the newest flagships are getting ready to upgrade their devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, there are other phones that came this year with Android 5.0 Lollipop and their manufacturers are now rolling out the 5.1 version. It is interesting that a few months ago, Sony was announcing that the Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra will skip this firmware and instead, they will receive the Marshmallow, but the users of these two devices found out that the build numbers 27.2.A.0.155 and 27.2.B.0.155 of the 5.1 Lollipop version have been rolled out to the Xperia C4 (and its dual version), the build numbers 29.1.A.0.87 and 29.1.B.0.87 are now being pushed to the C5 Ultra (5553 & E5506) and the C5 Ultra Dual (E5533 & E5563).
Unfortunately for the owners of an Xperia C4 or Xperia C5 Ultra smartphone, the news is not good. Instead of getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, as Sony has promised in October, these two devices will run on 5.1 Lollipop. Many users already started receiving this software yesterday, as 5.1 Lollipop rolled out to both of the dual Sim variants of the Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra, at the same time.
In case your device wasn’t upgraded yet, you can check if the servers have prepared a package for you, by going to Settings>About phone>Software update. It’s recommendable to connect to a wireless network, because the installation file is very big and it will eat a lot of mobile data, or even download over the cellular network. Another way to get the 5.1 Lollipop on one of the four Sony models is to do it via the official PC Companion tool.
Android v5.1 Lollipop comes with enhancements to Android Run Time (ART), so applications will load faster. The Okay Google glitch has been fixed, the silent mode is back, because it disappeared after other devices were updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Also, there is another fix for the SMS bug and a new WiFi Wi-Fi toggle option access in Quick Settings.
