The iPhone 6S was released back in September, so we’ve decided to compare it with the iPhone 7, which we’re hoping we’ll see in 2016. If you’re intrigued, let’s see how these two seize up in terms of specs.
Laying out the specs
The iPhone 6S mirrors it sibling the iPhone 6, however the former smartphone is a bit thicker. The here-and-now iPhone 6S has a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080and it also comes with the 3D Touch element. Storage wise, it is found in three variants: 16/ 64, and 128GB. This one has the A9 chipset under the hood paired with 2 GB of RAM. In the camera category, it has a 5 MP front-facing camera unit and a 12 MP one in the back along with the 4K video recording.
As for the iPhone 7, it is said to rock a really thin body. The top analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the iPhone 7 will be somewhere between 6.0mm and 6.5mm thin. Given his past predictions, he might be on to something here. The analyst also predicts that besides the iPhone 7, the Cupertino-based company may reveal another 4-inch smartphone. Here is what he says: “As there is still demand for a 4-inch iPhone, we believe Apple will upgrade this product line. Because the iPhone 5s is more popular than the iPhone 5c, we think Apple is likely to launch an upgraded iPhone 5s. We predict Apple will mass-produce this new 4-inch iPhone in 1H16 with metal casings. In order to make the current iOS 9 or next-generation iOS 10 run smoothly, Apple may adopt an A9 chip for this new phone.”
Also, a tipster shared on Weibo that Apple is currently trying out five iPhone 7 mock-ups, apple may also be thinking of adding an AMOLED display.
There are also heavy rumors about a USB Type-C being included in the iPhone 7 as well as a Touch ID. This device may come with a 4.7-inch display and a resolution of 2560x 1440. The iPhone 7 will also have three storage options: 32/64 and 128GB. Under the hood, Apple may include the A10 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. And as far as cameras, the front one will be a 5MP one while the back shooter may be a 12MP unit that will pack OIS and 4K.
The iPhone 7 may be certified as water-resistant
Do you recall the recording that came out a while back with the iPhone 6S lasting half an hour under water? Apple managed to do this with the aid of adhesive strips. According to a Chinese Mac site, the latter was a test so that Apple’s new device, the iPhone 7 will be declared as a water-resistant one, but in order to make this happen, Apple may have to let go of the aluminum material and go for the plastic look.
