The users in the UK and South Korea who own a Galaxy S6 or a S6 Edge smartphone are receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta, while LG will start pushing the update to its V10 smartphones, after flagships such as G4 and G Stylo already received it in December.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta was released for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones that have been sold to the customers from the UK and South Korea. Samsung will test the beta version for a while, then it will make it available to the rest of the devices across the globe.
Sam Mobile has posted a series of screenshots of the beta update running on the aforementioned Samsung devices, saying that the beta testing program no longer accept users and that soon enough, the company will release the Marshmallow update to all the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models from all over the world.
According to Sam Mobile, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring a modified user interface, the Quick Toggles and Status bar no longer have blue colored menus, but white menus, and the power menu has a minimalistic appearance. Samsung has also modified the icons of some of the applications, so now they have a flat design, which replaces the 3D aspect. Also, new themes have been added and they have different colors, while the users will be allowed to download pallet-based themes that from the Theme Store, in order to change the aspect of the menus and icons.
Now, there is a new shutter speed option for the camera app and it can be accessed in the Pro Mode. Marshmallow’s app drawer has been included to Samsung’s TouchWiz launcher and other new features that will be very useful are Doze (power saver), Google on Tap and advanced app permissions.
As for the LG V10, many users already started receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for their unlocked models, but it’s not sure when the devices sold through Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T will get it as well. There are still many G4 and G Stylo devices that haven’t been updated yet, and soon, Marshmallow will roll out to the older G3 handsets.
The official Android 6.0 Marshmallow build for the V10 has the same changelog as for the G4, so the update includes fixes for bugs that affected the battery, reboot, MMS, WiFi, Bluetooth etc.
