Samsung will release the 2016 versions for its Galaxy A7 and A3, which are a phablet and a mid-range smartphone with a similar design as the Galaxy S6. They’re both expected to hit the stores in December, but they will reach all stores gradually, depending from country to country.
Designs and Displays
The Galaxy A7 2016 will be almost as tall as the original model, measuring 151.5mm, but it will be 1mm thicker, measuring 7.3mm. But its screen will have the same diagonal of 5.5-inch, with a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 401 ppi, but unlike the first phone, which had a classic plastic back available in three color options: Pearl White, Midnight Black and Champagne Gold, the new version will have a glass back just like the Galaxy S6, but its variants of colors haven’t been listed.
The Galaxy A3 2016 is much smaller, featuring a 4.7-inch screen supporting 720x1280pixels at 312ppi, and it uses the same AMOLED technology, its thickness is identical to that of the Galaxy A7, and its back is also made of glass, while its sides are protected by a metal frame.
Both devices will run on Android v5.1.1 (Lollipop), but the phablet will be powered by an Exynos 7580 with eight cores clocked at 1.6GHz, which will be backed by 3GB of RAM, while the A3 will have the much weaker Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 quad core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, which will be paired with 16GB of RAM. Also, both phones support a microSD card slot, allowing the users to expand the internal memory from 16GB up to 128GB.
Cameras and Batteries
Both phones have a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP secondary camera, sharing mutual features such as LED flash, autofocus, HDR and Full HH video recording, but only the A7 offers optical image stabilization.
The battery of the A7 has a large battery of 3300mAh and it’s not removable. The A3 has a battery which is exactly 1000mAh smaller.
According to the latest rumors, the A7 and A3 will be released in Europe on January 8 and the latter will cost 329 euros.
