Until the arrival of the upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship, there will be another pair of mid-range smartphones which are part of the “E” family. The Galaxy E5 and E7 will be unveiled in January, following to be shipped worldwide in February, one of them is smaller, while the other is a phablet, but both models have an identical design.
Designs and Displays
Samsung is still adopting the traditional polycarbonate plastic shells for its mid-range smartphones, but instead of a plastic frame, the new models feature more durable metal frames. And the colors for the back of the Galaxy E5 are Black, White and Brown, while the E7 has in addition a Blue variant, the E5 is the smaller phone which measures 141.6×70.2×7.3mm and has a 5-inch Super AMOLED screen supporting a resolution of 720x1280pixels at 294ppi, while the E7 features a larger screen of 5.5-inch with the same resolution, but which is less sharp because the resulted pixel density is lower at 267ppi, also, the device has the same thickness, only that it’s approximately 10mm taller.
Both devices will come loaded with Android 4.4.4 KitKat and will be powered by a 64bit MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor with four cores which will run at a speed of 1.2GHz and which will be backed by an Adreno 306 GPU, but the E5 will support 1.5GB of RAM and its bigger brother will receive 2GB of RAM for a faster performance, their internal memory will be expandable, coming with a capacity of 16GB which will be increased up to 64GB.
Cameras and Batteries
On both phones’ front sides will be found a 5MP camera for selfies, but the E5 sports a rear camera with a lower resolution of 8MP, but the specs will be identical to E7’s main camera of 13MP, which are autofocus and LED flash.
Since it has a smaller screen, the E5 doesn’t require a bigger battery than 2400mAh, because it will withstand three quarters of the day when making voice calls on 3D, the E7 will have a similar lifespan with its 2950mAh battery.
