Each generation of Lumia smartphones include a member of the 500 “family”. For the new models with Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft released Lumia 550, a follower of the models 520 and 530, which promises experience (almost) complete for the new operating system mobile at a budget price. Obviously, the performance will not be at the upper patterns and certain features available on the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL will be inaccessible, but history suggests that this series of mobile hardware is enough to satisfy less demanding users.
Lumina 550 is available starting from today and comes with a display of 4.7″ HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels), a quad-core Snapdragon 210 chipset of 1,1 GHz from Qualcomm, 1GB memory RAM, cameras of 5 and 2-megapixel and a 2,100 mAh battery that can be replaced by the user. Internal storage is 8GB, but there is the option to add a microSD card of up to 200 GB.
Windows 10 Mobile from Lumia 550 includes the most important functions and services such as Microsoft Office, OneDrive, Cortana, Outlook, Skype and Outlook Calendar but doesn’t have the Continuum feature, which requires more processing power. The price is 140 euro without contract and likely to be one of the cheapest smartphones available at operators.
