The arrival of iPad competitors but at a completely disproportional price began a few years ago when Xiaomi launched the Mi Pad.
This device looks very similar to the iPad, and it had quite a lot of functionality. The biggest advantage, though, was its attractive price.
After almost two years since the original version came out, Xiaomi has come out with the Mi Pad 2. This device is in tune with the latest trends in several regards. This starts with the thickness of the device, which is only 7 mm. At a time when smartphones are starting to break the barrier, it is excellent to have a tablet at this price point with a similar objective.
The current7.9-inch touch screen continues without any significant changes. It may have been a department where a genuine revolution could have taken place. Many smartphones have started featuring QHD resolutions on a standard basis. Hence, it would not have been surprising to see the Mi Pad 2 come with this high resolution. Xiaomi may have foregone the decision to use a greater resolution than current 1536 x 2048 pixels keeping in mind the cost and battery life.
The original Mi Pad ran on the Android operating system, but Xiaomi has spread its wings by being able to support Windows 10 OS as well. Users can opt between either one of these operating systems, which are completely different regardinguser experience.
The Mi Pad 2 uses Intel Atom X5-Z8500 at its heart. This quad-core 2.2 GHz processor is powerful enough, and it is supported by the basic internal HD graphics card. These are not worth shattering specifications, but they should be more than enough to run the latest versions of Android that are far less taxing on the resources.
External memory card support is provided to up to 128 GB. Hence, the basic 16 GB or optional 64 GB Mi Pad 2 may have sufficient storage even for users intending to use the product only for multimedia purposes. The rear eight-megapixel camera offers sufficient quality regarding pictures or videos while the front camera is a five-megapixel shooter. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 has just been announced in the market, and it is expected to be available at the end of November. It will first go on sale in China for 999 yuan.
