We remind you that these two devices came with Android KitKat out of the box, but other carriers such as AT&T and Sprint have updated them to Android 5.0.1 and eventually to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Well, we can finally add T-Mobile carrier to the list, as the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update is currently being rolled out to these two devices, as long as they are connected to T-Mobile.
The latest Android Lollipop OTA update for the Galaxy Note Edge comes with the build number N915TUVU2COK2 and has 150MB. On the other hand, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update for the Galaxy Note 4 comes with the build number N910TUVU2DOK2 (678MB) or N910T3UVU1DOK2 (224MB).
The OTA update for both the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge come with Video Calling, Advanced Messaging, which are very useful if you want to get in touch with someone else that is connected on T-Mobile and has a compatible device.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE (SM-N9005 version) receives Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Custom ROM
In concordance with TeamAndroid, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM by SmokkieROM for the Galaxy Note 3 LTE device has been released, Galaxy Note 3 LTE can be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update, but if you want to test out the new features the latest Android Lollipop comes with, you can install the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM by SmokkieROM.
Keep in mind that in order to install a custom ROM, your Galaxy Note 3 LTE device will need to be rooted, or else it will not work.
Installing Android 5.1.1 Lollipop by SmokkieROM on Galaxy Note 3 LTE
First of all, you will need to download the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM By SmokkieROM zip for the Galaxy Note 3 LTE and Google Apps zip files to your computer, after that, you will need to connect your Galaxy Note 3 LTE device to your computer via an USB cable. Now, copy the two zip files to the microSD card that’s attached to your Galaxy Note 3 LTE device.
After you’ve copied the zip files to your Galaxy Note 3 LTE device, disconnect it from the computer and turn off the mobile device, you will need to enter recovery mode by pressing and holding the Home+Power+Volume up buttons.
Once you are in recovery mode, you will need to perform a full data wipe by selecting the “wipe data/factory reset” option, make sure that you select “wipe cache partition” and after that choose “advanced” and select “wipe dalvik cache”.
Finally, go to the main recovery screen and select “install zip from SDcard”. First, you will need to choose the latest Android Lollipop custom ROM By SmokkieROM zip file and once this file is installed on your mobile, choose “install zip from SDcard” once again and select “Google Apps zip”.
After installing these two zip files on your Galaxy Note 3 LTE, select “Go Back” and reboot the mobile device by selecting “reboot system now” from the main recovery menu.
Your Galaxy Note 3 LTE will restart and it will boot into the newly installed Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM By SmokkieROM.
