Two new mid-range smartphones carrying the same chipset have been released this month, but one of them has a screen with an average size, while the other is a phablet and supports a stylus. If you’re undecided whether to buy the HTC One A9 or the LG Vista 2, then check out this comparison, where we’ll tell you which phone has better specs.
Designs and Displays
The One A9 is somehow a copy of Apple’s iPhone 6, because it has a metal body with two horizontal strips on its back (which hide the radio antennas). The back is curved on the edges and the camera is located above the top line, but unlike the iPhone 6, which has it on the left corner, HTC positioned it in the center. The available colors for the One A9 are Carbon Gray, Opal Silver, Topaz Gold and Deep Garnet, its dimensions are 145.8×70.8×7.3mm, resulting in a total weight of 143grams. On the front side, under the 5-inch AMOLED screen which supports a Full HD resolution with 441ppi, sits an oval home button and inside it hides a fingerprint scanner.
The LG Vista 2 looks a lot like the LG G4, featuring a plastic back with a diamond pattern, but the shape of the body is almost rectangular. Also, it has the volume and power buttons placed below the rear camera, but the only available color for the back is metallic black. This phablet measures 154.4×79.8×9.7mm, it weights almost 170grams and it has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen with the same resolution, but which gives a much lower pixel density of 386ppi.
Both the One A9 and Vista 2 have received a Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 chipset which supports a pair of quad core processors and an Adreno 405 GPU. However, while the for Cortex-A53 cores are running at a speed of 1.5GHz on both phones, the four Cortex-A53 cores from the One A9 are running at a higher speed of 1.2GHz, while LG has clocked them at 1GHz. Also, the One A9 is offering two variants of internal memories with capacities of 16GB and 32GB and each one corresponds to a different RAM capacity, so the first model is weaker, supporting 2GB of RAM, while the latter added 1 gig of RAM. Also, a microSD card slot will allow you to expand the internal memory up to 200GB. As for the Vista 2, the phablet supports also a microSD card slot, but the maximum expandable memory size is 32GB, and the built-in memory is 16GB.
Cameras and Batteries
Both devices have a rear camera of 13MP with optical image stabilization, but the One A9 supports an aperture of f/2.0 and dual-LED flash, while the Vista 2 has an aperture of f/2.4 and supports laser autofocus and LED flash. The front camera from the One A9 is 4MP Ultrapixel and it takes better shots in low light conditions than the 5MP secondary camera of the Vista 2.
The One A9 has a non-removable battery of only 2150 mAh which provides 16 hours of talk time on 3G, while the Vista 2 allows you to remove its 3000 mAh battery which lasts two hours more.
