After releasing the Galaxy J5 and J7 budget friendly devices in June, Samsung has launched another pair of mid-range smartphones, Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7, which are sold in India for the price of Rs 8,990 ($135) and Rs 10,990 ($165) respectively. Below, we’ll tell you more about these phones which are available in gold and black colors.
Designs and Displays
Both the On5 and On7 handsets have a faux leather back likewise the Galaxy Note 4, and they feature a metal frame which protects the sides against scratches. The good news is that Samsung has ditched the plastic frame painted to look like metal, which was peeling off and looking disastrous after a while. The Galaxy On5 is the small model measuring 142.3×72.1×8.5mm, which has a 5-inch TFT screen supporting a resolution of 720x1280pixels at 288ppi, while the One7 is the phablet version which measures 151.8×77.5×8.2mm and has a 5.5-inch screen using the same technology and resolution, but which gives a lower pixel density of 267ppi.
While the smaller On5 is powered by an Exynos 3475 quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor, which is backed by Mali-T720 graphics and 1.5GB of RAM, while On7 is using Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor which teams up with an Adreno 306 GPU and 1.5GB. However, both devices support an internal memory of 8GB, which is insufficient if you’re the type of person who takes lots of photos or likes to play lots of games. The good news is that both devices accept a microSD card and you can obtain a capacity of up to 128GB.
Cameras and Batteries
Both front cameras have a resolution of 5MP, but the rear camera of the On7 is slightly more advanced because it supports 13MP, instead of 8MP. However, you’ll find the same features on both devices: LED flash, autofocus, touch focus, face detection, geo tagging and Full HD video recording.
The On5 houses a battery whose capacity is influenced by the dimensions of the device, which means that it supports 2600mAh. The On7 has a larger battery of 3000mAh, which is removable.
Both the On5 and On7 are running on Android v5.1 (Lollipop).
