Rumors are doing the rounds that some Samsung devices will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update within the next few weeks. Prior to that, according to some reports, Samsung is updating some of its older models, like Galaxy S3, Galaxy E7, Galaxy Note 3 Neo and the Galaxy S5 Active to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
At this time the AT&T customers are receiving an over-the-air update for Samsung Galaxy S5 Active to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system. The update weighs in at 640MB and has its build number as MY47X.G870AUCU2COJ3. The new firmware delivers many bug fixes for the S5 Active together with a feature known as Android for Work.
At this moment Samsung Galaxy E7 is updatable to Android 5.1.1 only in Sri Lanka and India. In other words, Samsung is testing the operating system in some regions in order to prepare for a larger scale roll out. Owners of the Galaxy E7 can manually update the operating system using the files found on the SamMobile website.
The Galaxy Note 3 Neo is also slated to receive the latest Android Lollipop treatment, the upgrade is being distributed in South Korea where owners can download it over-the-air or through Samsung KIES for units with model numbers SM-N750S, SM-N750L and SM-N750K. The OS carries an October 12, 2015 build date and weighs 900MB in size, according to reports, the update will be rolled out throughout the world in the next few weeks.
