Google started to roll out its newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow on its own Nexus devices and most owners of Nexus devices have already started getting OTA update.

Everyone is wondering what phones are going to get the update next. Thankfully, some OEM’s like Samsung, Sony, HTC and Motorola have announced their list of smartphones that are getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Samsung has not confirmed yet which of the Galaxy S series will receive the update, but consider their previous policy when it comes to updates, it seems that the company is not likely to update the 2013 flagship, the Galaxy S4.

In response to that, some senior members of XDA Developer Forum, came up with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Cyanogen Mod CM13 Custom ROM compatible with Samsung Galaxy S4.

Owners of Samsung Galaxy S4 with model number GT-I9505 can now update their devices by themselves to Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Cyannogen Mod CM13 custom ROM using the following tutorial. But keep in mind that this firmware is not an original release by neither Samsung nor Google, but just a custom ROM and it requires a custom recovery installed in the device in order to flash the ROM.

This should be kept in mind before installing custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy S4
• This tutorial is only for installing Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based CyanogemMod CM13 custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S4 with model number S4 GT-I9505 international LTE models only. Installing this ROM on any other devices, including other Galaxy S4 variants, could brick your device.
• The Samsung Galaxy S4 must have at-least 80 percent or above battery to avoid power off during the installation process.
•The smartphone must be rooted prior to installing the custom ROM and have latest ClockworkMod recovery installed in the device.
•Make sure that the Samsung Galaxy S4 USB drivers are installed on the PC. Backup all the data, additional files and apps as installing custom ROM will erase the memory of the device.
