Are tablets as popular as when they first invaded the market? Are Apple’s iPads still topical or people have lost interest in them and prefer to buy iPhones because they’re becoming faster and have many features which the users love. Also, a generous mobile data plan allows the users to install messaging applications and make free voice calls to their friends, cutting costs because mobile phone calls are expensive when phoning another mobile network. Tablets have their advantages as well, especially that they carry around Wi-Fi+ Cellular models.
Designs and Displays
The tablet has a simple aluminum back with curved edges and rounded corners, the rear camera is positioned on the upper left corner and on the front side you’ll notice the familiar circular home button which hides the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, but the device doesn’t allow you to make mobile payments. The iPad Mini 4 measures 203.2×134.8×6.1mm and the 3G/LTE model measures 304 grams. The screen is neither large, nor too small, as it measures 7.9-inch, and its resolution is 1536x2048pixels at 324ppi.
The iPhone 6S Plus looks identical to the predecessor, but it’s made of a more durable aluminum allow – Series 7000, which is slightly thicker, but not noticeable. This phone measures now 158.2×77.9×7.3mm and it’s 20 grams heavier than the iPhone 6, which weighted 172grams. The screen size is unchanged, so the diagonal measures 5.5-inch and the resolution is 1080x1920pixels at 401ppi. The novelty is the 3D Touch technology which was integrated into the screen and which works with multi touch gestures such as Tap, Swipe, Pinch, Peek and Pop. Depending on the level of pressure applied by the user, the screen reacts accordingly.
The iPhone 6S Plus is 40 percent faster than the iPad Mini 4 because it has the newer Apple A9 Dual-core 1.84 GHz Twister processor which is backed by 2Gb of RAM. The tablet houses an Apple A8 Dual-core 1.5 GHz Typhoon processor which supports also 2GB of RAM. Another advantage of the iPhone is the NFC option, which allows the users to make payments at contactless terminals, via the Apple Pay service.
The iPhone 6S Plus is powered by a 2750 mAh battery (10.45 Wh) which gives almost three more hours of mixed usage than iPad Mini 4’s 5124 mAh battery (19.1 Wh).
The iPad Mini 4 has the same cameras as the iPhone 6: 8MP on the back, but which lacks LED flash, and a 1.2Mp secondary camera with features such as FaceTime over Wi-Fi or Cellular.
The iPhone 6S has an upgraded 12MP back camera with OIS which is now available for videos as well. Also, the phablet supports simultaneous 4K videos and 8MP image recording. As for the front camera, it supports 5MP and has a retina flash feature which turns the entire screen into a giant flash.
