One of these phones has a glass/metal body, while the other has a full metal body. One of them is a flagship, while the other has a much weaker processor. If we’ve made you curious and you want to learn more about the Note 5 and Galaxy A8, then check out this comparison.

Designs and Displays

While their displays have an identical size of 5.7-inch and they’re using the Super AMOLED technology, which is famous for offering rich and vibrant colors, their resolutions make the difference. The Note 5 is a superior model which supports a QHD resolution (1440x2560pixels at 518ppi), while the Galaxy A8 supports a Full HD resolution (1080x1920pixels at 386ppi) and it lacks an S Pen stylus which can be used to take noted directly on the screen. Also, the Note 5 has a back made of glass (the available colors are Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Silver Titan and White Pearl) and its sides are protected by a metal frame, but it’s thicker at 7.6mm and shorter at 153.2mm. The Galaxy A8 has a height of 158mm, it’s extremely slim at 5.9mm and its body is made of aluminum, which comes in three variants of colors: Pearl White, Midnight Black and Champagne Gold.

With its configuration, the Note 5 can be considered one of the most powerful smartphones on the market, as it’s powered by an Exynos 7420 octa core processor which was built using a 14nm process and it’s backed by 4GB of RAM. Its performance is very impressive and you will enjoy playing complex games, as the graphics processing unit (Mali-T760MP8) is pretty advanced, as well. The Galaxy A8 doesn’t excel, but it runs pretty fast with a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 octa core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, and which is coupled with an Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Unfortunately, the Note 5 doesn’t allow extra storage, but it’s available in two variants of memories of 32GB and 64GB, while the Galaxy A8 is more privileged to support a microSD card slot for expanding the memory from 32GB up to 128GB.

5MP seems to be a popular resolution on most of the new phones’ front cameras, but usually, the other manufacturers are limiting the resolution of the main camera to 13MP. Samsung is an exception, because after upgrading the camera of the Galaxy S5 to 16MP, there were no changed on the next phones. Only their features have been improved, or new ones have been added. The Note 5 supports more features than its sibling, such as optical image stabilization, 1/2.6′ sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size and 2160p video capture @30fps.

The Note 5 is powered by a 3000mAh battery, while the Galaxy A8 offers 50mAh more juice.

The Galaxy A8 is very appreciated in India, where its price is 476 dollars. As for the Note 5, the flagship can be ordered from Amazon, where it costs 633 dollars.
