If all goes as planned, the Galaxy S7, Samsung’s top handset will see the light of day in the month of February 2016. This will happen before the Mobile World Congress convention that is set to take place in Barcelona.
According to the hearsays, Samsung intended to speed up the big launch to January. But, plans have changed and a tipster informed SamMobile that the launch date for the Galaxy S7 device has been moved to February.
The word around town is that Samsung is planning on hosting a very intimate event, moniker Galaxy Unpacked. This is set to happen on the 21st of February 2016, one day before the big MWC event.
Even if there is no evidence to backup the information made public by SamMobile, there might be some truth to all of this as Samsung tends to stick to its launching stencil. Let us recall the Galaxy S5 and S6 devices that were also launched first at the Galaxy Unpacked event and later on exposed at the MWC convention.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Rumored Features
Project Lucky is the codename for the Galaxy S7 device and it will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, having 4GB RAM on board as well as 64 GB internal memory and a USB Type-C port as well. There will be two versions of this device launched: one that will pack an Exynos 8890 series Octa-core CPU while the other one will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 series quad-core processor under the hood. Camera wise, Samsung is still pondering on whether to use the IMX300 sensor (found in Xperia Z5) or opt for the ½-inch lens with photo-diode technology. This device is also presumed to have an upgraded version of the 3D Touch functionality that can be currently experienced in Apple’s iPhone 6S devices.
