It seems that an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S3 has been released. The new Dirty Unicorn firmware can now be used by anyone who has a Samsung Galaxy S3 device to update their smartphone to the latest Android Lollipop.
We remind you that the Galaxy S3 device has been released with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. Officially, this device can be updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but thanks to the Dirty Unicorn firmware, the users can now experience all the features that Android Lollipop comes with. It is good to know that the users will need to create a backup of their data and settings that they have on their Samsung Galaxy S3.
HINT: You can use the TWRP tool to make all the necessary backups.
How To Install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Custom ROM On Galaxy S3
You will need to download the Android 5.1.1 custom ROM by Dirty Unicorns and Google Apps zip files on your computer, then, you will need to connect your Galaxy S3 to your computer via an USB cable. Copy the zip files on the microSD card that’s attached to your mobile device and disconnect the smartphone from your computer.
Now, you will need to boot the smartphone into Recovery Mode. This can be done by holding down the Home, Volume up and Power buttons simultaneously. When your device boots into recovery mode, you will need to delete the data from your smartphone by using the “wipe data or factory reset” and also “wipe cache partition” options.
Finally, you will need to choose the “install zip from sdcard” feature and select the Android 5.1.1 custom ROM by Dirty Unicorns zip file. Once this file is installed on your smartphone, choose once again “install zip from sdcard” and select the Google Apps zip file. When the installation is complete, reboot your Galaxy S3 device and start using the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM by Dirty Unicorns!
