The Galaxy S6 is definitely more advanced than the Nexus 5X and without a doubt it’s better looking than its predecessor, which had an uninspired design, featuring a dotted pattern on its plastic back. Samsung has made some serious changes to the aspect of the new flagship which finally looks more premium, Nexus 5X is a continuation of the Nexus 5, made by LG, but, of course, it suffered some design changes.
Designs and Displays
The Galaxy S6 is a bit smaller in size, but it’s 2grams heavier than the Nexus 5X, which weights 136grams, because the Samsung flagship has glass on its back and metal around its sides. The phone is very elegant, but not resistant to dust or water, likewise its successor. Samsung made this compromise and managed to bring a beauty which everyone finally loves. Its dimensions are 143.4×70.5×6.8mm and on the front side it was fitted a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a QHD resolution (1440x2560pixels at 577ppi), which has a fingerprint scanner under it.
The Nexus 5X is prettier than its predecessor, featuring a matte plastic body with flat sides and rounded corners, and it’s also slightly curved on the edges. The rear camera has been moved from the upper left corner to the top center and below it was placed a fingerprint scanner (Nexus Imprint) which can be used for making mobile payments. The device measures 147×72.6×7.9mm and has a FHD LCD display with a diagonal of 5.2-inch, which supports a Full HD resolution (1080x1920pixels at 424ppi).
The Galaxy S6, which runs now on Android 5.1.1, is powered by a much more advanced processor built by Samsung, which is an Exynos 7420 octa core clocked at 2.1GHz, and which is backed by 3GB of DDR4 RAM. The Nexus 5X features a slower Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor clocked at 1.82GHz and which supports only 2GB of DDR3 RAM.
None of the devices provides a microSD card slot for expanding the internal storage, but you’ll get three variants of capacities for the Galaxy S6: 32/64/128 GB, while the Nexus 5X is available in two variants of 16/32 GB.
Cameras and Batteries
The main camera of the Galaxy S6 has a resolution of 16Mp and a wide f/1.9 aperture, while the rest of features include LED Flash, OIS and Live HDR + video capture at 2160p@30fps, while the front camera was upgraded to a resolution of 5MP and has an aperture of the f/1.9 and 120-degree wide-angle. The battery isn’t big, supporting a capacity of 2550mAh, but it supports fast charging.
The Nexus 5X has a rear camera which scored two points less than the camera of the Galaxy S6, in national testing, and even if it doesn’t have a very high resolution – 12.3MP, it offers important features such as laser autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. The front camera supports 5MP as well, while the battery is bigger at 2700mAh and it can be charged via the new Type-C 1.0 reversible connector.
