In October, the Taiwanese company has introduced a new mid-range smartphone to the Indian market and its name is HTC Desire 728G, supporting two SIM cards and which has a cost tag of carries a cost tag of $272. The OnePlus X is the Chinese manufacturer’s thirds device, which isn’t as powerful as the first models, but it comes with a luxurious design and a price tag of $257, in this article we’ll compare the two models and you’ll decide which is best for you.

Designs and Displays

The HTC Desire 728G is available in black and white and has a plastic back with a matte effect, its rear camera sits in the upper left corner, featuring a circular lens and a LED flash under it and on the front side it has dual stereo speakers using Dolby Audio technology. The dimensions of this device are 157.9×77.8×7.8 mm, resulting in a total weight of 153grams, the device is pretty massive, sporting a large TFT screen of 5.5-inch which supports a resolution of 720×1280 pixels.

The OnePlus X has a metal rim protecting the sides and has a variant with a black glass back which weights 138grams, being called Onyx, while the other variant uses Ceramic and it weights 160grams, but this model is available only in 10,000 units. As for the physical dimensions, the OnePlus X measures 140x69x6.9mm, which makes the screen much smaller at 5-inch, but it’s an AMOLED with a Full HD resolution, so it’s much more vibrant.


The HTC device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor which is backed by 1.5GB of RAM, while its internal memory of 16GB supports expansion up to 200GB with a microSD card. The OnePlus X has an old 32bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a Quad-core 2.3GHz Krait 400 processor which is backed by 3GB of RAM, so you won’t feel any lags or random crashes when playing a game. The internal memory has the same capacity, but it’s expandable only up to 128GB.

The Desire 728G comes loaded with Android 5.0.2, while the OnePlus X runs on the newer Android version.

Cameras and Batteries

Both devices are equipped with rear cameras of the same resolution, 13MP, but the OnePlus X provides extra features such as phase detection autofocus and has a better front camera of 8MP, which beats the 5MP secondary camera of the Desire 728G.

None of the batteries is removable, but the HTC device houses a bigger cell of 2800mAh, which should last a bit longer than the 2525mAh battery of the OnePlus X.
