The J7 by Samsung operated on the Android OS, and it was released in July 2015. The device is available in three colors, black, white and gold. It is a dual SIM smartphone.
Display and Screen
The J7 comes with a 5.5 inches display, which is quite large compared to other phones released recently. The screen is 5.3 inches, so you can term it a phablet. However, those with small hands might find it difficult to operate, especially if they are used to a smaller phone.
The screen resolution comes to 1280 pixels x 720 pixels, so it is a 720 pixel, HD display. The ppi comes to 267, which is normal for many of the phones released this year. The Super AMOLED technology has been used for the display.
Design and Form
It comes with a plastic body and has dimensions of 152.2 x 78.7 x 7.5 mm (height x width x depth). It is slim even if you use it with a case and weighs 171 grams. It is rather heavy, due to the big battery. The finish is matte, and this prevents it from easily smudging and showing finger marks.
It has a 13 MP primary camera, capable of offering high quality of images. The front camera has a resolution of 5 MP and is good for selfies and video chatting purposes. The phone can also take HD video images at 1080 pixels using the primary camera. The recording quality is very good, though not as good as 4K. The primary camera has an aperture of f/1.9, so it is capable of allowing much light in, enabling improved depths in the case of field photos. Other camera features include autofocus, LED flash and face detection, with Geo-tagging, Touch focus, and panorama view enabled.
Battery and Hardware
The battery capacity is 3000 mAh, which is more than normal on phones released in 2015.
The J7 is powered by an octa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon, 615 MSM8939 chipsets. The CPU clocks at a speed of 2.5 GHz and is combined with a RAM of 1.5 GB.
Storage and Software
The phone is available in a base model having 16 GB, internal storage, which may not be sufficient if you store much music or videos on your phone. However, you can opt for other versions or expand the storage up to a maximum of 128 GB using the microSD card.
The phone runs on the Android, 5.1, Lollipop version and has an addition TouchWiz skin. The performance is good, and there is no stutter while you navigate through the apps, browse the Internet or take pictures. The device has been optimized for gaming purpose, so there are no frame drops or stutters while gaming.
The J7 by the Korean company offers excellent specifications, when compared to many other more expensive mid-range devices from the same company. Though it does not have the metallic look and continues with the synthetic form, it comes with a removable back and a frame made of metallic chrome. It has the familiar Samsung look and is easy to grip.
