The successors of the famous pair of iPhones that have been released last year have received improvements only internally, and if you’ll put the iPhone 6 and 6S or the 6 Plus and 6S Plus side by side, you won’t know which one is which. The differences between the new models and the previous devices are related to the dimensions, because Apple has worked on a new aluminum alloy (7000 series) which is more durable and thicker, but the successors are also available in a new color option, Rose Gold. But what are the differences between the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus?
Dimensions and Displays
It’s not worth specifying that the iPhone 6S Plus is the phablet version of the iPhone 6S, featuring a unibody body made of aluminum, which has slightly rounded edges and corners. On the back you’ll notice the popular slim horizontal strips at the top and bottom, which are hiding the radio antennas, and on the front is found the home button with a fingerprint scanner hidden inside. The iPhone 6S measures 138.3×67.1×7.1mm and its weight is 143grams, while the iPhone 6S Plus is almost 50grams heavier and it measures 158.2×77.9×7.3mm.
The screens have the same size and resolution as those that have been integrated into the previous models. The smaller iPhone 6S has a 4.7-inch display supporting 750x1334pixels at 326ppi, while the iPhone 6S Plus has a 5.5-inch screen with a Full HD resolution and 401ppi. The iPhone 6s has a contrast ratio of 1400:1, which better than its big brother’s 1300:1 aspect ratio. Also, Apple has added a new technology called 3D Touch, which transformed the display into a revolutionary pressure-sensitive touchscreen, reacting to various levels of taps applied to the screen.
While the internal configuration is the same on these phones (Apple A9 dual-core 1.84GHz Twister processor backed by PowerVR GT7600 graphics and 2GB of RAM), the cameras have also the same resolution of 12MP (ƒ/2.2 aperture) and 5MP, but the difference is that the phablet supports optical image stabilization, likewise its predecessor.
The battery inside the iPhone 6S has a capacity of 1715 mAh and it offers 14 hours of talk time on 3G, 10 hours of internet use and 50 hours of audio playback. The 2750 mAh battery of the iPhone 6S Plus supports 24 hours of talk time on 3G, 12 hours of internet use, 14 hours of video playback and 80 hours of audio playback.
