LG has hired many intelligent people who are continuously working on materializing their ideas. The South Korean company released a new family of innovative phones which are focusing on military-grade durability, but the first member of this series has other features which make the V10 a unique device. But this isn’t the only interesting smartphone. A Russian company created a phone with a display on its back. Did we catch your attention? In this article, we’ll tell you more about the V10 and YotaPhone 2.

Designs and Displays

The V10 has a textured silicone back and a stainless steel frame, making it shock resistant. Likewise the LG G4, it has the physical buttons (volume rocker and power button) placed below the camera. But the power button has a double functionality – it also scans your fingerprint because it has a reader integrated into it. You’ll have five options of colors for the back: Luxe White, Space Black, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue or Opal Blue and you’ll notice that the device is quite heavy at 192mm, but it’s not very uncomfortable to hold, because it has an average thickness of 8.6mm. The main screen is very large, measuring 5.7-inch and it uses IPS LCD technology which allows a maximum resolution of 1440×2560 pixels at 515ppi. On top of it has been built a second screen measuring 2.1-inch, which can be set to be always on. Its resolution is 160x1040pixels and when the main screen is off, this one shows the time/date, information about the weather etc., and if the primary screen is on, the second screen shows shortcuts for the most used applications.

The YotaPhone 2 has been improved over its predecessor and both of its screens support a higher resolution. The one on the front side measures 5-inch and it’s an AMOLED with a Full HD resolution which gives a pixel density of 442ppi, while on the back is always-on grayscale e-ink capacitive touchscreen with a diagonal of 4.7-inch whose resolution has been increased up to 540x960pixels (235ppi), so it’s very sharp. This display is power efficient and on it, you can mirror whatever you’re doing on the main screen. Also, it has three modes: the one that acts like a lock screen, the one that has four homescreens like Android, containing widgets for weather, your favorite contacts plus app icons and the last mode shows the Android interface from the main screen. As for the design, you will see some improvements in comparison to the first model, which had a boxy design. This phone has a slightly curved back panel and the corners are curved. The phone has a weight of 145 grams and a thickness of 9mm.

The YotaPhone 2 was released last year, in December and at that time, Qualcomm didn’t release the 64bit Snapdragon 810 processor yet. So, instead, the creators of this Russian phone opted for the older 32bit Snapdragon 801 quad core processor which was running at 2.3GHz, and it was helped by 2GB of RAM. The internal memory was limited to 32GB, since there was no microSD card slot, and initially, the device ran on Android OS, v4.4.3 (KitKat), but then it was upgraded to v5.0 (Lollipop).

The V10 has almost the same configuration as the LG G4: a 32-bit Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset, which is powered by a quad core processor running at 1.44GHz and a dual core processor clocked at 1.82GHz, but LG was more generous with this device and equipped it with 4GB of RAM. The internal memory is pretty convenient, as it supports 64GB, but its capacity can be extended up to 200GB and the microSD card will be included in the package.

Cameras and Batteries

The V10 has a pair of 5MP front cameras and a 16MP shooter on the back with an F/1.8 aperture, OIS 2.0, laser autofocus and LED flash, which is able to record 4K videos. The YotaPhone 2 isn’t very impressive, but the photos have an average quality if they’re taken with the 8MP camera on the back which has two important features: autofocus and LED flash. The 2.1MP front camera isn’t recommended for selfies, but you can use it to make video calls.

The V10 has a bigger battery of 3000mAh which should last an entire day. Surprisingly, the 2500mAh battery which powers the YotaPhone 2 is very resistant, as according to GSMArena, it offers 26 hours of talk time over 3G.
