It seems that most of HTC’s smartphones that have been released in 2015 are carbon copies, featuring the same metal body with two thin strips on their back. Apple hasn’t made any changes either, so its new iPhone is identical to the previous model. But, if you’re curious what these phones hide inside, here’s a comparison between their specs.

Designs and Displays

In a recent interview, HTC accused Apple of copying its phone designs, but let’s be honest, nowadays, some ideas are incomplete, so others work on them and come with a better product. So, instead of analyzing who copied who, we’ll just describe the two phones which are stacking against each other.

The One A9 has an aluminum body with curved sides and instead of having BoomSound speakers on the front side, the phone comes with a single speaker and an oval home button below the screen, which hides the new fingerprint scanner. The color options for the body are Carbon Gray, Opal Silver, Topaz Gold and Deep Garnet, while the dimensions are 145.8×70.8×7.3mm. Since it’s so slim, the device isn’t heavy, weighting 143grams. Its screen is AMOLED and has a diagonal of 5-inch and it supports a Full HD resolution with 441ppi.

The iPhone 6S has the same weight, but the device gained 20grams because of the new aluminum alloy which is more durable and it no longer bends. Plus, Apple added a new screen technology called 3D Touch, which detects the level of pressure applied to the screen and triggers various actions. But the screen hasn’t been changed, still measuring 4.7-inch and supporting a resolution of 750×1334 pixels at 326ppi. It’s protected with Ion-strengthened glass, while its competitor uses Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The iPhone 6S measures 138.3×67.1×7.1mm, being 0.2mm thicker than its predecessor. Also, it has the usual fingerprint scanner integrated into the circular home button. The Rose Gold version will surely be appreciated by the female buyers.

The One A9 is not that amazing, being considered more like a mid-range handset, because it uses an inferior Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 octa core processor with four cores running at 1.5GHz and four cores are clocked at 1.2GHz, but HTC provided two variants of memories: the internal one has a capacity of 16GB and it’s paired with 2GB of RAM, while the other model supports an internal memory of 32GB, which is coupled with 3GB of RAM. If until now, the limit for the storage capacity was 128GB, it seems that more phones are able to support up to 200GB.

The iPhone 6S is 70-90 percent faster than its predecessor, thanks to the new Apple A9 Dual-core 1.84 GHz Twister processor which supports 2GB of RAM. This is a change that all Apple fans were expecting, and the flagship is definitely worth praising. Unfortunately, Apple is still refusing to add a microSD card slot, so you’re stuck with one of the three storage options with capacities of 16/64/128 GB.

Cameras and Batteries

The HTC One A9 has a rear camera of 13MP with an aperture of f/2.0, OIS and dual-LED flash, but the image quality isn’t as good as on the iPhone 6S, although this flagship has a main camera with a slightly lower pixel density of 12.3MP. The thing is that Apple has a more advanced camera software, which processes images after they’re taken. The front camera of the One A9 has a resolution of 4MP (Ultrapixel), being the exact one that has been used on the back of the One M8. Apple has upgraded the 1.2MP camera from the front side of the iPhone 6 and its resolution has been increased up to 5MP.

On paper, the 2150mAh battery of the One A9 lasts 16 hours when talking over 3G, while the iPhone 6S, with its 1715 mAh battery can last 14 hours, if the saver mode isn’t enabled.
