Many things have changed along the way and WhatsApp has been slowly improved, receiving tones of new features, such as the Voice Calling, but at first, there were some technical issues with it and the developers needed months to make this service run flawlessly. Another useful feature was WhatsApp Web, which allowed the users to log into their accounts using their computers, by scanning the QR code with their phones’ cameras. For a while, the developers have struggled to perfect the option to back up conversations on Google Drive and this feature was removed right after it was introduced in a beta version, this spring, but it’s back and working. And the users can back up even pictures, voice messages and videos.
Stop worrying that your phone’s memory is limited and you’re running out of space, because from now on, you’ll be able to save your messages containing chats, photos, voice recordings and video, on the cloud (Google Drive). To benefit from this new feature, the users must update to the latest version of WhatsApp, either downloading the beta version from the official website of WhatsApp, or by getting the stable version from the Google Play store.
After installing the new update, in order to create a Google Drive backup, the users will go to Menu Button>Settings>Chats and calls>Chat backup, then they’ll tap on Back up to Google Drive. They will need to specify your Google account, and if you don’t have one, you’ll be prompted to create on, so tap on Add account and then add it for the back up.
You can manually back up your chats or you can set the application to automatically back up your conversations, by selecting the backup frequency from Menu Button>Settings> Chats and calls>Chat backup> Back up to Google Drive. Instead of Never, choose how often you want WhatsApp to perform backups.
Currently, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android is 2.12.326.
