LG has done it again! The company released a worthy successor which everyone wants. Its nice design and the food specs are attracting many potential customers who are not fans of phablets. Google has released the Nexus 6P alongside the Nexus 5X, but it falls into the category of flagships and it has a higher price. In this article we’ll focus on the mid-range variant and we’ll compare it to Xiaomi’s Mi4c handset.
Designs and Displays
The Nexus 5X has a polycarbonate body, likewise the Nexus 5, but it has a rectangular shape, not curved sides at the top and bottom. On the back is now found a protruding camera with a fingerprint scanner below it, and the three color options for the panel are Carbon, Quartz and Ice. The device measures 7.9mm in thickness, it weights 136 grams and on the front side sports a 5.2-inch screen (increased from 5-inch), which retained the Full HD resolution (1080x1920pixels), but the pixel density was dropped to 424ppi.
The Xiaomi Mi4c has a simpler design, it lacks a fingerprint scanner and its rear camera is located in the upper left corner, having the dual-LED flash in front of it. The corners are not as round as on the Nexus 5X, but the edges are also slightly curved, while the color options are white, grey, pink, yellow and blue. This phone has a smaller body with a thickness of 7.8mm, it’s 4 grams lighter and its screen has a diagonal of 5-inch with the same Full HD resolution, but its pixel density is higher at 441ppi, making the images sharper.
The Nexus 5X was launched with Android OS, v6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box, but it has the same hardware configuration as its competitor: it’s powered by a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz, which are backed by Adreno 418 graphics and 2GB of RAM. Even the internal memory is available in the same variants of 16GB and 32GB, which don’t support expansion, but the Xiaomi Mi4c offers 3GB of RAM for the model with bigger storage.
Cameras and Batteries
Both front cameras support 5MP and the rear cameras are similar in terms of resolution. The Nexus 5X has a 12.3Mp shooter with laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and 1.55µm pixel size, while the Xiaomi Mi4c has a 13MP main camera with phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash.
The Xiaomi Mi4c should have a longer battery life because the capacity is higher at 3080 mAh. LG’s previous Nexus 5 handset supported a battery of 2300mAh, which has been increased to 2700mAh. Still not enough, though, but since the Nexus 5X has a weaker Snapdragon processor and the screen supports a Full HD resolution, it should last an entire day.
On the 16GB variant of the Nexus 5X you’ll pay $379, while the 32GB variant costs $429, the equivalent models of the Xiaomi Mi4c cost $249.99 and $289.99 respectively.
