Who said only all-metal smartphones are good-looking? It takes a little bit of imagination to make a piece of art and the developers from OnePlus and LG proved that they can build high quality products with less metal on them. The OnePlus 2 and the Nexus 5X are not only pretty, but very affordable and powerful, although they don’t have many things in common.

Designs and Displays

The back of the OnePlus 2 has an interesting finish which is called Sandstone Black and you won’t find it on any other smartphone, because it was invented by OnePlus and it’s used only on its products. The successor of the OnePlus One has now a rectangular body, it’s 1mm thicker, measuring 9.9mm, it weights 175grams and it’s fitted with a larger 5.5-inch screen (LTPS LCD) supporting a Full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 401ppi. In addition, the developers placed a home button below the screen, which sits between two capacitive buttons.

The Nexus 5X has also a rectangular body, but its corners are more round and the back has a molded plastic finish, while the fingerprint scanner is located below the rear camera. The device is slimmer at 7.9mm and it weights 136grams, but it’s also shorter and sports a 5.2-inch LCD screen supporting 1080x1920pixels, as well, but the pixel density is higher at 424ppi.

Inside the OnePlus 2 and Nexus 5X are found two different models of 64bit Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. The first device has the newer Snapdragon 810 octa core processor (four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.56 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked 1.82GHz) which are backed by either 3GB of RAM, if the configuration includes an internal memory of 16GB, or 4GB of RAM for the model with 64GB of storage. Unfortunately, you’ll have to settle for one of these internal memories, because they can’t be expanded.

The Nexus 5X uses the Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor (four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz) which supports only 2GB of RAM. The phone doesn’t have a microSD card slot either, and its two variants of storage have capacities of 16GB and 32GB.

Cameras and Batteries

If the secondary cameras are identical, supporting resolution of 5MP, the main cameras are similar, or have close resolutions. The OnePlus 2 sports a 13MP rear camera with optical image stabilization, laser autofocus and dual-LED flash, but it has the same video recording capabilities of 2160p@30fps like Nexus 5X’s 12.3MP camera which has laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash.

OnePlus has added some juice to the battery of the second phone, supporting now 3300mAh, while the Nexus 5X has a weak cell with a capacity of 2700mAh, which was increased from 2300mAh.
