This fall, we’ve welcomed into our lives four new phablets created by the biggest names in the mobile industry. The first one that have been released was Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5, then Apple came with the improved iPhone 6s Plus, Microsoft has presented its Lumia 950 XL and lastly, Google announced the Huawei Nexus 6P. So, if you are undecided which phablet to buy, below you’ll find a detailed comparison between their specs.

Designs and Displays

The Lumia 950 XL is very elegant with its plastic back (black or white) which is very sturdy, and which has large circular camera lens. The thickness of the device is 8.1mm and it weights 165 grams. This is a phablet with a 5.7-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display, which means that it offers very vibrant colors and the content is visible in direct sunlight. The images are very sharp because the screen is capable to support a QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels at 518 ppi.

The Galaxy Note 5 has 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with the same resolution and pixel density, but it’s slimmer at 7.6mm and it weights 171grams, because its back is covered in a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is surrounded by a metal frame and on the front side is hidden the fingerprint scanner inside the home button. As usual, the Samsung phablet comes with an S Pen stylus, which is inserted through the dock from the bottom left side.

The iPhone 6s Plus looks identical to the iPhone 6 Plus, featuring an aluminum body with a new color option – Rose Gold and a thickness of 7.3mm (it’s slightly thicker because Apple used a new aluminum alloy, 7000 Series, which is more durable). The device weights 192 grams – with 20 grams more than its predecessor, because underneath the 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD screen (with the unchanged Full HD resolution at 401ppi) was integrated the new 3D Touch technology – it detects two levels of pressure and responds accordingly. The TouchID fingerprint scanner sits below the screen, as before.

The Nexus 6P has a metal body with a black band on the back, at the top, where the camera and the dual-LED flash have been placed. Below this band is located the circular fingerprint scanner and the screen is the same as the one that has been used for the Lumia 950 XL. However, the device has a thickness of 7.3mm and it weights 178 grams.

The Lumia 950 XL and the Nexus 6P are powered by a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 octa core processor which is backed by Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM, while the Note 5 has Samsung’s best 64bit Exynos 7420 octa core processor, which was built using a 14nm process, and the manufacturer added 4GB of RAM, instead of 3GB, in order to make the phablet faster than the Galaxy S6 flagship. The iPhone 6S Plus has the new Apple A9 dual-core 1.84GHz processor which supports now 2GB of RAM.

Only the Lumia 950 XL has an expandable internal memory, which can increase from 32GB up to 200GB. The Note 5 offers two variants of storage with capacities of 32 and 64GB, while the iPhone 6S Plus and the Nexus 6P have three variants, but instead of 16GB, the latter flagship offers a double capacity, while the other available two variants are 64GB and 128GB.
