At the launch event on Tuesday, besides the unveiling of the Surface Pro 4, Surface Book and Lumia 550, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL showcased what can Windows 10 for Mobile do.

As soon as users got a glimpse of what this software is capable of, they were eager to see when the latter will be available for former Lumia devices. So, according to Microsoft, the Windows 10 will arrive to Windows Phone gizmos in the month of December. The Windows 10 Mobile roll out will happen gradually and it’s all in the hands of the carriers as to when the upgrade will reach the smarthopnes.

Microsoft states that all Lumia gizmos will receive the Windows 10 mobile update. The ones that run on Windows 8.1 and have 8GB of internal space will receive the latter upgrade for free. However, there will be several features that will not be accessible and in order to get them, users will need advanced hardware.

So, it is imperative that the handsets run Lumia Denim (version number 8.10.14219.341) or above. Here is how you can find out if your device is qualified or not for the upgrade. Follow the below mentioned steps:

Here is Microsoft’s list of Lumia devices that are qualified to receive the Windows 10 upgrade in December: Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 (the 1 GB RAM model), Lumia 640 and the 640 XL version, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930.
