During fall of each of the past five years, a new Nexus phone has been released by Google.
However, this year will be the first time Google will be unveiling this device as early as September. In addition, it is the first time the company will be rolling out two smartphones.
Google will be launching Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P alongside other newbies such as Chromecast and Android Marshmallow OS. However, in this post, we will stick to Google Nexus 6P.
Google Nexus 6P
Last year saw the birth of Nexus 6 thanks to a Google-Motorola partnership, but according to some, it did not materialize much. As a result, Google went for another partner for this year’s model and its none other than China’s Huawei. This year’s version will be very different, right from its name, the Nexus 6P.
At the moment, there are no full details of what this new phone will pack in terms of specs and features. However, there are numerous rumors doing the rounds all over the web and we have gathered for you some of the most viable ones in regards to the upcoming Google event.
When the Nexus 6P is finally unveiled, you will notice a brand new design for this flagship. No more bubbly bodies like the ones Motorola used on the previous model, rather, Huawei has gone for a clean, rectangular frame, curved edges and a flat metal rear. The camera is protruding and the phone is expected to come in a variety of colors, among them black, silver, white and gold.
The new Android M is expected to come with a fingerprint sensor and since it will be installed on this new Nexus 6P for the first time, it is also expected that the phone will come with this technology as well. However, the unfortunate thing here is that the new sensor appears to be situated on the phone’s rear, which might make reaching it a very awkward effort.
Unlike the previous model, the upcoming Nexus 6P will feature a smaller 5.7-inch display screen, which kind of conforms to today’s fashion. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 and Motorola X Style have both adopted this size, which gives Google and Huawei some good reasons to shrink the size of the new Nexus 6 2015. On the other hand, the display quality is expected to improve since the resolution is expected to remain at 2560 by 1440 pixels.
New processing power
The older Nexus 6 was installed with a Snapdragon 805 processor; however, this is expected to be stepped up to Snapdragon 810 in the newest edition. Furthermore, the Nexus 6P will be equipped with a better RAM of 3GB, with internal storage expected to start from 32GB for the base model and 64GB for the top model. There are also rumors that Google and Huawei might decide to chip in a 128GB variant for the top-tier users.
Many online rumors suggest that the new Nexus 6P will step up its photography specs, just like many other new Android phones are doing. However, leaked photos only show a bulging snapper at the back, but there is no news of the kind of lens it comes with.
Benchmarks reveal that the rear camera should be something around 11MP while the front-facing camera may be around 7MP, but none of these can be confirmed just yet.
We cannot also confirm anything to do with the pricing of the new Nexus 6P. However, since the latest Google phone was priced at about $649 when it was unveiled, this new model might be priced similarly or even more.
