Yesterday, during event dedicated to the launch of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, Google has also revealed that the Marshmallow will be available for more Nexus devices, starting from next week.
As expected, the Nexus devices are the first ones that receive the latest Android build. It seems that the Marshmallow will be available for the Nexus 5, 6, 7 and 9, starting from October 5, 2015. However, when it comes to older devices such as the Nexus 4, 7 (2012) and the 10, it seems that we don’t have any good news, because Google confirmed that they will not receive the Android M.
We remind you that even if you don’t get the Android M OTA update until October 5, users can always try to install the update manually. In concordance with Android Police, the factory images of the Android M for different devices will most likely be available for download starting from October 5, 2015. You should know that the Nexus 5X and 6P are the first devices that come with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
The new update comes with improvements on the battery performance and can extend your Nexus 5 and Nexus 6’s battery life by up to 30%.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to be released for the HTC devices
After the Nexus devices will get updated to M, other manufactures will also receive the update for their devices. It seems that HTC is already preparing some of its mobile devices to get upgraded to the latest Android OS. Until now, the tech company based in Taiwan confirmed that the Android M will be released for the HTC One M9, One M9+ and One M8.
However, according to LlabTooFeR, a known developer and creator of a custom ROM called “Maximus HD”, HTC will also update the following devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow:
– One ME
– One M8s
– One M8 EYE
– One E9
– One E9+
– One E8
– Butterfly 2
– Butterfly 3
– Desire EYE
– Desire 816
– Desire 820
