There are a lot of tips and tricks that you can use on the latest Gmail version for your Android device. But before we tell you about them, open the Google Play Store on your Android device and make sure that you run the latest Gmail version.
The latest version of Gmail for Android comes with many new features and one of them allows you to merge inboxes of one or more Google accounts. With other words, if your workplace email is hosted by Google, you can see both your personal and office email in one place, on your Android device.
To add a new account, select the drop-down menu from the left (below the avatar) and once you enter the correct login details, all Inboxes will appear in the left-hand panel, enabling you to see everything from one place.
The Gmail application comes with a Mute feature. This feature will automatically archive specific emails, so that you won’t see them anymore. However, keep in mind that those messages will still be marked as unread.
Solving Sync Problems
If you notice that your messages are not syncing correctly, go to Settings->Accounts and see what Google accounts are associated with the device. Tap on one of the accounts and make sure that the Gmail syncing is enabled.
After that, open the Gmail application and go to Settings and select your email address to make sure that the messages are set to sync. From the same screen you will be able to configure how many days of email are cached and which labels are included.
Searching For Emails
The search function that’s inside the Gmail application may look simple, but we assure you that it can be quite awesome. For example, if you write in the search box “older_than:1d” or “older_than:1y”, you will be able to search for messages that are one day old or for emails that are one year old.
If you mark messages as important, you can also search for them by writing in the search box “is:important”.
