The Mi 4c has been released three days ago, at an event held in China, the country of origin of this manufacturer. The new model brought some nice features, as well as improved hardware. Let’s see how it stacks against the previous Xiaomi Mi 4i model.
Displays and Dimensions
The Xiaomi Mi 4c has an identical plastic body which measures 138.1 x 69.6 x 7.8 mm, but the black option has been removed, remaining five variants of colors: White, grey, pink, yellow and blue. Also, the screen has the same size of 5-inch and a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 441 ppi.
The two cameras have the same resolution, 13MP and 5MP, but a new feature has been added – phase detection autofocus, and Xiaomi claims that this super fast autofocus feature can focus in less than 0.1 seconds. Also, the front camera on the new model supports wide-angle selfies.
The previous Xiaomi Mi 4i came with an older 64bit Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 octa core processor (four cores running at 1.7GHz and four cores running at 1GHz) which was backed by Adreno 405 graphics and 2GB of RAM. The buyers were able to choose one of the two variants of internal memories with capacities of 16 and 32GB, but the phone didn’t provide a microSD card slot for expansion.
The Xiaomi Mi 4c is powered by a 64bit Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor (four cores running at 1.44GHz and two cores running at 1.82GHz), which is paired with Adreno 418 graphics and 2GB of RAM, but only one variant of internal memory is available, which is 16GB. However, maybe you’ll be interested to buy the variant with double storage and 3GB of RAM.
The Xiaomi Mi 4c features an USB Type-C port and Xiaomi will offer microUSB to USB Type-C adaptor, which costs around 80 cents. Another addition is the IR Blaster, which is compatible with over 2,000 home appliances, and the device supports 4G LTE.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i came loaded with Android v5.0.2 (Lollipop) and has MIUI 6.0 on top of it, while the Xiaomi Mi 4c runs on Android v5.1.1 (Lollipop) with MIUI 7.0. A cool feature which has been added to the Mi 4c is the Edge Tap which allows the users to double tap on the side, in order to go back. The users can also wake their devices by double tapping on the screen.
The 16GB variant of the Xiaomi Mi 4c is priced at $204, while the 32GB variant costs $235. The 16GB variant of the Mi 4i is cheaper, costing $196, while the 32GB variant is priced at $227.
