The developer preview of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is already available for some Nexus devices. According to reports, this update is also expected to be released for Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2013 and 2012), Nexus 9 and Nexus Player.
Last month, the big search engine company used its Nexus 5 (2013), Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player to test out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. According to some new reports, Google is planning to release the Nexus 6 2015 (also known as Nexus 6P) along with the Nexus 5 2015 (also known as Nexus 5X). Both of them will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. However, these will not be the only devices that will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, because other devices that are expected to be released with this new operating system are: Sony Xperia Z5, LG G4 Pro and HTC One A9.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come with fingerprint scanner support, a battery saver, enhanced app drawer, status bar, improved applications permissions, custom Chrome tabs, USB Type-C support and more.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with a new feature called Doze, which is designed to detect if there is any activity on your mobile device, using a motion detecting sensor. This feature will also shut down particular processes that are not needed to run while in idle mode.
The application drawer has been improved and now it allows you to locate files, applications and games that are stored on your mobile device. You will also notice that the scroll bar is back in the application drawer, which is one of the features that many Android users were missing.
The custom Chrome tabs come with a few options for colors, themes and fonts and they will also track site visits.
If you own a Nexus 5 (2013), Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or a Nexus Player, you can update it to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow by doing the following:
– Download the ADB Tools and unpack the zip file
– Turn into fastboot mode and double click on the “flash-all.bat” file.
Keep in mind that the factory image file for the Nexus 5 (2013), Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player differ and you will need to download the right one or else it will not work!
HINT: In order to start the installation, the mobile device will need to be in fastboot mode (to do this, press and hold the Power+Volume Down at the same time.
