The release date of the Nexus 5 2015 (and Nexus 6 2015) has been confirmed. The phone will be officially unveiled on September 29, during an event which will take place in San Francisco. We still don’t have solid information about the specs of the upcoming Nexuses, because there are all kinds of rumors suggesting different details, so we’ll present you all known variants. We selected Samsung’s Galaxy A8 to throw it in the arena, so we’ll have an interesting battle.
Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P
The “P” stands for phablet, because it will feature a 5.7-inch QHD screen. According to rumors, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa core processor, which will be backed by 3GB of RAM, it will feature three variants of internal memory with capacities of 32, 64 and 128GB and it will measure 159.4 x 87.3 x 6.6/8.5 mm. On the front panel it will have dual stereo speaker, while on the back will be found a fingerprint scanner below the camera module. The Nexus 6P has been manufactured by Huawei.
The Nexus 5X is expected to feature a 5.2-inch Full HD P-OLED HD screen and will house 32 and 64GB of internal storage. A part of the rumors say that LG opted for a Snapdragon 620 octa core with 3 or 4GB of RAM, while other rumors claim that the processor will be more advanced, Snapdragon 808 with six cores and 2GB or 6GB of RAM. The camera on the back will support 13MP and will feature laser autofocus, while the front camera will be either 4MP or 5MP. Moreover, it’s still uncertain what will be the battery capacity, but while some rumors say that it will be 2700mAh, others claim that it will be much bigger at 3,180 mAh. The phone will have also Dual Front-facing speakers and a fingerprint scanner on the back (which is made of matte plastic). This Nexus version will be priced at 399 dollars.
This phablet has been released in August and it falls under the category of mid range devices, because its screen (Super AMOLED sized at 5.7-inch) supports a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 386 ppi, the processor is Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 with four cores running at 1.8GHz and four cores running at 1.3GHz, which are backed by Adreno 405 graphics and 2GB of RAM, and the cameras have resolutions of 16MP and 5MP, but there aren’t too many revolutionary features to contribute to the increase of the image quality. The battery has a capacity of 3050 mAh, but on paper it lasts 17 hours when making calls over 3G. The dimensions of the device are 58 x 76.8 x 5.9 mm, resulting in a total weight of 151 grams and likewise its Samsung siblings, it has a fingerprint scanner hidden inside the home screen.
