This year, Google will release two flagship phones, the smaller one which was built by LG – the same company that is behind the Nexus 5 2013 and Nexus 4 2012, and the phablet which was created by the Chinese firm Huawei. Both devices are rumored to be unveiled on September 29, but they are expected to be called differently: Nexus 5X and Nexus 6X. What are the differences between them and which smartphone is a better buy – these are the two questions that cross people’s minds and in this article, we’ll compare the upcoming Nexuses, based on the rumored specs.
According to many reports, the Nexus 5X will be a sub-flagship device with an affordable price which will attract many middle-class buyers, while the Huawei Nexus will be a premium flagship, with high-end specs and a design made of glass and metal. However, what is 100% certain is that both of them will run on Google’s upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, which will bring Android Pay, the new mobile payment option. That’s why both of the Nexuses will feature a fingerprint scanner, which will serve for this purpose.
The Nexus 5X will feature a 5.2-inch P-OLED screen with 1080p resolution, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor, which will be backed by 3GB of RAM and will support two variants of internal storage with capacities of 16 and 32G. The two cameras will have resolutions of 12.3MP and 5MP respectively, although other rumors suggest that they will be weaker (8MP and 5MP). The device will include a USB Type-C port and the color options for the plastic back will be white, black and blue. The Nexus 5X will be priced between $350 and $400.
The Nexus 6X will be a bit more expensive, and its price will start from $500, but that’s because it will have a larger display of 5.7-inch with QHD resolution, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 octa core processor, which will be paired with 3GB of RAM. The two cameras will have resolutions of 12MP and 8MP respectively and the device will be able to record 4K videos. Also, the Nexus 6X will support NFC and an internal memory of 32GB.
