According to new reports, Motorola is planning to release its Moto X Play in the US, but with another name. The device which will be launched in the US will be called Motorola Droid Maxx 2, which is most likely similar to the Moto X Play, but with a few changes that we will mention below.
In concordance with Phandroid, before the end of 2015, the Moto X Play will be released as the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 and it will be sold by Verizon Wireless. It seems that Verizon will be the only carrier who will sell this device in the US and its price will be around 300 dollars.
The guys from Android Police claimed that they’ve received some photos of the Moto Droid Maxx 2 and it has “DROID” labels in the rear panel. The device will feature a 5.5-inch screen, a Snapdragon 615 processor, a primary camera of 21MP and a secondary camera of 5MP. The processor will be backed by 2GB of RAM and it will be powered by a battery of 3630 mAh.
If rumors prove to be right, the Moto Droid Maxx 2 will feature only 8GB of internal memory and it will feature a microSD card slot. We remind you that the Moto X Play comes with variants of 16 and 32GB of internal memory and we’re not sure yet why Motorola would reduce so much the storage capacity for the US variant of the device.
Some new reports say that the Moto Droid Maxx 2 will hit the Verizon stores before the winter holidays, but don’t be surprised if the device will be released sooner, as the Moto Pure Edition is already up for pre-orders in the US and it will hit the stores in a few weeks.
Do you think that the Moto Droid Maxx 2 will be released before the end of 2016?
