The largest Apple tablet will be available for sale soon enough, because it was unveiled only a few days ago at a special event. We’ll compare the iPad Pro with the one year old iPad Air 2 and we’ll highlight the differences between them.

Designs and Displays

The iPad Pro is big, so big that you could fit iPad Air 2 tablets into its screen, when it’s tilted in landscape. The dimensions of the iPad Pro are 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9 mm, while the iPad Air 2 measures 240 x 169.5 x 6.1 mm. The WiFi variant of the iPad Pro weights 713 grams, while the iPad Air 2 weights 437 grams. The 3G/LTE variant of the iPad Pro weights 444 grams, while the iPad Air 2 weights 723 grams.

Both tablets have a fingerprint sensor (Touch ID) on the font panel, below the screen, but the iPad Pro comes with four speakers which offer a great sound experience, producing a stereo soundstage effect.

The iPad Pro was created for split-screen multitasking. The display measures 12.9-inch and it supports a high resolution of 2048 x 2732 pixels with 265 ppi (it supports up to 5.6 million pixels) on the screen, so it’s a lot sharper than the 9.7-inch screen of the iPad Air 2, which supports 1536 x 2048 pixels at 264 ppi (3.1 million pixels).

None of the cameras have been upgraded and their resolutions and features are unchanged. The front camera is 1.2MP, while the back camera is 8MP and doesn’t have a LED flash. The photos are not the greatest and we don’t recommend you to use any of these tablets if you are participating at an important event.

The biggest change was made to the hardware configuration and it was normal to see a new processor in action. The A9X is expecting to be 1.8 times faster than the A8X processor, and it’s also helped by the new iOS 9 which is focusing on multitasking.

The iPad Pro will challenge the Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablets. Apple created a special Pencil stylus for it, but it’s sold separately for the price of 99 dollars. To convert the tablet into a laptop, you will need to attach the Smart Cover Keyboard, which costs 169 dollars. However, the price of the iPad Pro starts from 799.99 dollars, for the 32GB variant.
