On Wednesday, Apple unveiled two new smartphones in the form of Apple iPhone 6S and Apple iPhone 6S Plus.
These are the newest entrants in the iPhone range of products and when compared to their predecessors the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you will notice lots of similarities, especially in the design. Even though it might be tough to tear apart these two models – iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S as well as iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6S Plus – a closer look at the two will reveal some serious hardware upgrades.
Just like the CEO Tim Cook notes, the new smartphones look very familiar, but there are lots of changes under the hood that only iPhone users will realize.
Features of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
This Apple event had been anticipated by many people, with some of them expecting the company to release iPhone 7 during this event. However, it seems the “Plus” models are becoming a norm in the mobile industry as a number of renowned smartphone OEMs have delved into this niche, for instance, Samsung and HTC. Apple was at it with the first release of iPhone 6 Plus and the tech giant is at it again with this new release of iPhone 6S Plus.
Nevertheless, the new gadgets have some interesting features you should know about. One key feature that has made its way to the two iPhone models is 3D Touch. This feature debuted with the Apple Watch and as of now, it has taken a new direction.
On the Apple Watch, it is known as Force Touch. However, Apple has decided against reintroducing the Force Touch technology on the new iPhone 6S and instead, the company has replaced it with another similar technology known as 3D Touch. Just like its predecessor, 3D Touch relies on pressure being exerted on the smartphone screen in a bid to let users execute certain actions, for instance, open messages and other apps.
On the iPhone 6S, there will be a 4.7-inch display screen, the same that was installed on the iPhone 6 model. On the other hand, the iPhone 6S Plus keeps the phablet stature with a 5.5-inch screen display, a size that is similar to the iPhone 6 Plus.
What’s new on iPhone 6S and 6S Plus?
One good thing that Apple has done is step up the processors of the two phones, a move that allows for improvements in the graphics aspect. There is also a new aluminum body for both iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
Other major upgrades include a 12MP snapper on the rear and a 5MP snapper on the front facing camera. There are also some improvements in the Touch ID in these new phones as far as the speed of performance is concerned. You will come across an A9 processor on both devices as well as 3D Touch.
As far as prices are concerned, the iPhone 6S is expected to exchange hands from $199 with acontract while iPhone 6S Plus will trade at $299 with a contract. An Irish release is also expected to be released this coming month.
