Both companies made some design changes to their flagships, but they were more radical for the Samsung device, which no longer contains any trace of plastic on the outside. LG released two version of the G4: one with genuine leather back and the other has a plastic 3D diamond pattern. More important is their performance, and below, we’ll compare their specs, to see which one is better.

The Galaxy S6 is situated at a higher level, since it has a more premium design. The previous Samsung flagship was considered very ugly, in comparison to other phones which were released in 2014, and the LG G3 was, without a doubt, better looking.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ vs Galaxy Note 5

Now, the roles were changed, because Samsung started from scratch when building the Galaxy S6 and the model has nothing in common with the previous flagship. It has a back protected with Corning Gorilla Glass and a metal frame protecting the sides, the thickness is only 6.8mm and it weights 138grams. The fingerprint scanner hidden inside the home button was improved and now it supports Samsung Pay – online payments.

As we specified in the intro, the LG G4 offers a model with a genuine leather back, which has stitching running down the middle, while the other variant has a mixture of ceramics and plastic, but it looks cheaper. The device has a thickness that increases from 6.3 to 9.8 mm and it weights 155grams.

The Galaxy S6 is smaller, so its screen measures 5.1-inch, but it supports 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 577ppi. Samsung uses its own screen technology, Super AMOLED, which delivers more vibrant colors, while LG opted for an IPS LCD screen, with colder tones. The G4 is a phablet, so the screen is sized at 5.5-inch, but the resolution is also QHD. However, it supports a lower pixel density of 538ppi.

Both devices are powered by Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A57 ARM-based processors, but they have different configurations. The LG G4 uses a Snapdragon 808 chipset with a quad core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and a dual-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU, which are backed by 3GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S6 has a more advanced chipset built by Samsung, which is Exynos 7420 (created using a 14nm process) and both processors have four cores clocked at 1.5GHz and 2.1GHz respectively. The RAM capacity is identical.

LG G4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S6

The LG G4 houses 32GB of internal storage, but it’s expandable up to 128GB, while the Galaxy S6 has unexpandable storage, which comes in variants of 32/64/128 GB.

Samsung increased the resolution only for the front camera, which was upgraded from 2MP to 5MP, but the rear camera still supports 16MP. However, the Galaxy S6 device received new features, and one of them is the optical image stabilization. The LG G4 sports a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP secondary camera, which means that it takes better selfies.

Being slimmer, the Galaxy S6 couldn’t support a very large battery, so its capacity is 2550 mAh. The advantage that the LG G4 is offering is the possibility to replace its battery, which has a capacity of 3000mAh.

On Amazon, the factory unlocked version of the Galaxy S6 with 32GB of storage costs 571 dollars, while the LG G4 is 6 dollars cheaper.
